“The lives of Gods is a wall mounted objet d’ art. It depicts the stories behind the ten avatars of Vishnu in Hindu mythology”
The lives of Gods is inspired from the Kavads of Rajasthan, where performers narrate fascinating stories about Gods and Goddesses to an enthralled audience with the aid of beautiful illustrations painted on folding panels. This beautiful work of art was painted by a group of Patachitra artisans in the village of Raghurajpur, near Puri, in Odisha.
Master Artisan Gangadhar Moharana, with a team of artisans sketched out the basic characters and the composition of the panels in consultation with the Design Team. The color palette was then finalised with little swatches and as colors were filled in and details added meticulously, the stories sprung to life.
